Weāre SO excited for yāall to dive into this weekās newsletter- there are some GEMS below. Truly, truly insane stuff.š„
Here are this weekās picks:
āIs This TikTokker Being Held Hostage by A Christian Hollywood Cult?ā - Okay, this one FLOORED me because Iāve been mesmerized by Mirandaās incredible dancing videos for a while now, so really surprised when one of my best friends (hi Mel!) sent over this article. Although it does sound like the setup of a musical full of hi-jinx as the gang tries to escape, I hope Miranda and her friends arenāt being held hostage by a cult.
āJobfished: the con that tricked dozens into working for a fake design agencyā - Someone needs to scoop up the TV rights to this story ASAP. Meet the Tinder Swindler of bosses. This dude fabricated an entire professional background (including a claim to have worked as a creative director for Nike), frequently misspelled his own last name, and tricked dozens of employees for doing work for free for months.
āDownfall of the 'Queen of Vegan': Netflix series will tell story of New York high society darling Sarma Melngailis who siphoned off $2 million from her restaurant business (but she claims her controlling husband was to blame)ā - A classic story of a wife claiming to being bamboozled out of her money by an ex-husband promising to make her dog immortal. Oh, and worth mentioning the husband said that her pup āhad been his dog in a previous life and the three of them had all been living together for a thousand years.ā Sounds legit. Anyway, this story is at the center of one of the FOUR juicy, binge-worthy shows dropping this month (full list is below)ā this is being brought to us by the executive producer of Tiger King and the director of Netflixās Fyre Fest documentary.
āMiss Florida Scholarship Director Allegedly Stole $100K from Program to Pay for Shopping Sprees, Dating Sitesā - The title pretty much says it all here. In addition to the story being bananas, Iām also sort of impressed this woman was online dating in her 70ās. Thanks for sharing this one, Betsy!
āNYC influencer Danielle Bernstein, 29, is slammed for 'tone deaf' bikini photo to 'promote her new collection and support Ukraine'ā - Ahh this piece brings us back to Natalie Schlater comparing her life as an influencer and plights to that of aā¦ rice farmer.
āLil Twist Says Scooter Braun Planted Negative Stories About Him āto Protectā Justin Bieberā- Another story has come out that points to Scooter Braun probably not being a super great dude ā the initial full story was published by Insider ā but itās behind a paywall.
Did we mention that March is FULL of upcoming scam-inspired documentaries/series? We did, and hereās a list of everything you should keep an eye out for (with 3 debuting tomorrow!):
