Chanel rage confetti, so long Hillsong & Homeland Security imposters 👀🍿🧃
Hello Wrecklings! Apologies that you received last week’s issue twice— Substack’s recent update automatically triggered duplicate emails for a bunch of publishers, including ours… Substack, you have one job!
Semi-related, we’re looking at migrating to a different platform so have flexibility to offer more free things like 💫 a searchable recommendation list of must-watch scandal/scam content 💫 Stay tuned!
Have you been following The CEH drama? Well, there’s a bizarre update and got a tip that there’s another eerily similar furniture company scandal in full swing— catch up on the latest here.
Here’s this week’s scamdals (we’re making this a word):
“Controversial NYC influencer Danielle Bernstein, 29, faces furious backlash after launching her own 'super cool' VISA CARD - as critics accuse her of 'preying on young people' with 'scam' while calling out her past scandals” - Remember when Fyre Fest’s Billy McFarland launched Magnises, the millennial-focused credit card? I’m not saying this card is doomed to a similarly grim fate, but given Danielle’s questionable track record of plagiarism and other weird behavior, I’m not optimistic.
This podcast interview with Caroline Calloway is a masterclass in cattiness and it is UNCOMFORTABLY AMAZING - Caroline was interviewed by Julia Fox (yes, of UNCAH JAMS) and Niki Takesh — who was NOT pulling any punches. From pressing Caroline for insight into her unpaid rent to her unwritten book to her unpainted wall, the conversation is honestly one you can’t turn off.
“Hillsong Dumps Its Co-Founder”- On the heels of the release of the incredibly damaging documentary series about Hillsong, the megachurch continues its fall from grace.
“Furious Russian women CUT UP their Chanel handbags in protest after the fashion giants BANNED them from buying their favourite accessories”- As y’all saw in last week’s issue these influencers were mad, now they’re MAD MAD and destroying outrageously expensive things they own. Wow, really made a point there. I’d like to offer my services— if anyone wants their designer handbags cut up, mail them to me and I’ll... yeah, totally do it for them.
“Report: Texts Show Brett Favre’s Role in Mississippi Welfare Fraud Scandal”- After googling to find out what Brett Favre’s worth is ($100M), I’m stumped at why people are so desperately greedy.
“Feds Unravel Wild Scheme by Fake Agents to Dupe Secret Service, Including FLOTUS Detail” - Okay, so this entire story is insane but the best and wildest part was while four Secret Service agents fell for these impersonators— it was the US POSTAL SERVICE that discovered the ruse. What the what… how embarrassing.
“Influencer criticised for not pulling her weight after joining an Amish farm for a reality show hits back at claims she's 'lazy, self centred and privileged' and insists spending 10 hours on her makeup is 'hard work'“- I’ll never doubt that influencers work hard for the hustle, but I’m confused about this influencer’s approach to this show. There are easier ways to snap rustic photos for your Instagram besides actually committing to working on a farm?
“Tyra Banks wanted 'America's Next Top Model' to fix fashion. Now, some contestants say the show was 'psychological warfare.'“- Seems that last week’s America’s Next Top Model article was just the taste to this exposé. While this piece is unfortunately behind Insider’s paywall, it’s well worth the read if you can access. Basically it details ANTM as complete “psychological warfare”- detailing the removal of bathroom doors at the models’ house for filming, withholding medical treatment, and other horrible incidents.
More Serious Stories
We realize some of these can be triggering for some readers, so feel free to skip!
“Potential Nikolas Cruz juror says she can’t be on jury because of ‘sugar daddy’”
The influencers are not okay:
“One Federal Agency Was Suing Him for Fraud. Another Paid His Company Millions for Masks.”
