Dirty weed, Adobe gets sued & Denmark can't do spicy 👀🍿🧃
Hi Wrecklings!
Ahhh! A bit unusual intro this week but I have an exciting personal update. As many of you know, I was Hinge’s first publicist and 10+ years later, inspired by my own frustration with dating apps, I’ve built my own. Obviously, I love chaos and disruption, and this is full of both.
It’s called Date Like Goblins– and whether single or not, please bookmark our Kickstarter campaign– this helps us begin to build traction ahead of our launch + media day on July 17th (you’ll also get all the details then)! 🧌🎉
If you’re single, we open up beta access to the app starting next Tuesday, so please join the waitlist! 👀
Now back to regularly scheduled chaos:
“Wells Fargo rolled out a new credit card you can use to pay rent. Is it a money-loser?”- The TL;DR seems to be that it’s a great card to get if you’re a consumer, awful if you’re Wells Fargo.
“The dirty secret of California’s legal weed”- I hate that I didn’t even think to worry about these kinds of things.
“McDonald's is removing its AI drive-thru voice-ordering system from over 100 restaurants after its mishaps went viral”- Meanwhile White Castle is bringing AI to its locations saying it’s more accurate…
“FAA Now Investigating Counterfeit Components in Boeing and Airbus Planes”- I’m sorry, WHAT now?
“Boeing sales tumble as firm gets no orders for the 737 Max for second straight month”- So at least there’s some good news…
“Denmark recalls Korean ramen for being too spicy”- Ok, I really want to know who was the one that made this decision for an entire country.
“Joey Chestnut Out of 2024 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Over Deal With Competitor”- Probably not the worst outcome for his health.
“Remote workers using ‘mouse-mover’ technology are getting caught”- I’d argue having a work culture that inspires someone to use a mouse jiggler is the beginning of the issue but mmkay.
“Blood, Guns, and Broken Scooters: Inside the Chaotic Rise and Fall of Bird”- An older article but particularly relevant given the below stock news:
“US sues Adobe for ‘deceiving’ subscriptions that are too hard to cancel”- Timely, considering how many people are rethinking their subscriptions after Adobe’s AI chaos.
“Dubai influencer fined €1,800 for trespassing on Sardinia’s pink beach”- What a cool experience… to keep off socials…
“Camels stepped out for a stroll, and a run, through Cedar Point, videos show”- Run free, giant friends!
“Gaming giant Steam accused of ripping off 14m UK gamers”- Curious if this’ll set a precedent for a US claim.
