Hi Wrecklings! This week finds me queuing up the second season of The Vow— the documentary about NXIVM, the “self-help group” turned cult.
“Emmanuel The Emu Never Had Bird Flu”- I’m a fan of Emmanuel, but not his mom. It’s now also a good time to remind people that, “There Are Two Emu Ladies on TikTok, and You Need to Know the Difference”
Also, unrelated but these two threads made me laugh out loud:
Elon finally actually acquiring Twitter has caused a whole lot of drama— most of it being completely expected, all things considered.
“Dane Cook Is Not Embarrassed About His Very Young Fiancée and Actually He's Laughing”- He can’t “yes-and” his way out of at the end of the day, how creepy this remains.
TikTok is rife with drama, as always (skip the last one if you’re easily grossed out):
“Fans Are Calling Out Kylie Jenner After A New Episode Of “The Kardashians” Bolstered Speculation That She Completely Faked A Red Carpet Appearance”- My interest in the Kardashians isn’t strong enough (or even existent, really) to follow the thread of this, but this feels wild for those that do.
“People Aren’t Sure What To Make Of The YouTuber Who Just Ended A Three-Month Hiatus After Canceling Herself”- A whole three months? Wow. The restraint. It’ll be interesting for her fans that stick around to see what she’s going to cover, if the entire premise of her original content was all made up.
“Why Don’t You Ever Hear About New Ghosts?”- It’s cute to think about how even ghosts have learning curves.
“Visitors Trapped in Disney Resort by Sudden COVID Lockdown But The Rides Are Still Running”- Omg, this feels like a scary movie waiting to happen.
“‘Airbnbs have the audacity to charge the same as hotel prices’: Man shares why hotels are superior to Airbnb rentals in viral video”- I used to be a huge Airbnb supporter but I’m also tired of paying a cleaning fee when I’m also the one doing most of my own post-stay clean up.
“‘Eye of the Pfizer’: Conspiracy theorists try to pin Katy Perry’s lazy eye on COVID vaccine”- I’m all about conspiracy theories but let’s leave the vaccine out of it.

“Was Jack Welch the Greatest C.E.O. of His Day—or the Worst?”- Regardless of which way you land, this dude has pure ice running through his veins.

Longer-form reads, if you’re feeling high-brow:
“Yoga Girl is No Longer Vegan (I Can't Pretend This Isn't Insane)”- So the TL;DR— the universe told a vegan to eat an egg which led to her quitting veganism which she announced on her podcast— then another vegan influencer made this snarky response. Phew!
“Self-driving truck startup TuSimple fires its CEO over improper ties to a Chinese firm”- Autonomous shadiness.
“This NFT phone sounds as ridiculous as its price tag”- The array of grifts knows no bounds.
