Facebook legs are a lie, pool boy confessions & $11 million heist 👀🍿🧃
And a $100,000 couch mistake/prank/scam?
Hi Wrecklings!
All things considered, this week is relatively quieter in the world of scams but is no less juicy. We saw the tweet below and were first to post the story to TikTok— and then also shared our thoughts on the “apology”.
As for the rest of this week’s drama, hopefully it’ll keep everyone entertained until both the Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen albums drop in a couple days:
“‘Glee’ Exposé Documentary Coming From Discovery+ — But What More Is There To Say?”- Curious how this is going to turn out, I’m sure there are a number of people very unhappy about it.
Sad news for my Robinhood stocks:
“Trying To Sell Your Peloton Bike? Good Luck”- While perhaps unsurprising, it feels weird that such expensive bikes are now available for such a deep discount on the second market. Also worth reading how a “Fired Peloton Instructor Rips Into His Former Bosses Over ‘Humiliating’ Remarks.” They also just lost their Chief People Officer. Yikes.
“Beyond Meat exec Doug Ramsey leaves company after arrest for allegedly biting man’s nose, punching Subaru”- Imagine that awkward goodbye message on Slack.
“Facebook's Legs Video Was A Lie”- Ha. Love the irony that the initial story never had legs in the first place.
“New York Congressional Race-- I'm Promoting Sex Positivity ... Willing To Go Deep For Your Vote!!!”- This PR stunt makes me want to vomit, this election play feels very Black Mirror.
“Big Tech employees are TikToking on the job — and their bosses don’t always like it”- Employees TikToking from small tech would be like the corporate equivalent of all the drama/chaos that happens in any restaurant. Like Sweetbitter but office work.
“Influencer Quenlin Blackwell posted a TikTok crying and begging for donations after saying she 'accidentally' bought a $100,000 couch”- Caution— this saga is frustratingly dumb.
“Inside the Jerry Falwell Love Triangle: Pool Boy Tells All”- This salacious scandal is also getting the documentary series, hitting Hulu on November 1st.
🔏“New York City's Answer to Its Rat Problem: Asking You to Take the Trash Out Later”- The one-liners in this piece are incredible, and for those of you unable to read past the paywall:
“Is the Honeymoon Already Over for Right-Wing Dating App?”- What the article doesn’t cover is that the FBI is allegedly contacting people when they admit to being a certain somewhere on January 6th… it’s just so good.
“Fans Of ‘The Kardashians’ Said They ‘Stopped Watching’ This Week’s Episode After Noticing That The Show Edited Out A Significant Part Of Kim’s ‘Offensive’ Women In Business ‘Advice’”- Shady, absolutely. Surprising, not at all.
“Inmate Stole $11 Million in Gold Coin Scheme While in Prison, Officials Say”- This is honestly impressive, although the house that went for $4.4m hardly looks worth it (uh I’m also basing that judgement on the uh.. one photo)?
“OnlyFans Star Courtney Tillia Offers Content Training Course... Free for Teachers!!!”- It’s not surprising that the course content sounds incredibly well thought-out.
“Java Films Debuting ‘Cryptoqueen – The OneCoin Scam’ at Mipcom, Unveils Trailer”- Yessss, give me all the scammer documentaries.
