Fyre Fest insider-intel, a holiday swindler & some snake oil 👀🍿🧃
And trust me, this Fyre Fest tea is good.
I was so excited to send this week’s newsletter because last week I realized I 💫have a colleague that worked at Fyre Fest 💫 and he had written a piece about his experience so this week’s roundup kicks off with…
“True Life: I Was Hired To Work At Fyre Festival”- Ok, so obviously a throwback but even if you thought you knew everything there was to know about Fyre Fest, Ian’s write-up covers some stuff that wasn’t in the documentaries, on Twitter, etc. Thanks Ian, you’ve made a lot of people happy today.
“Kim Kardashian Is Being Called “Out Of Touch” For Her “Offensive” “Advice” For Women In Business. Here’s Everything You Need To Know.”- We’ve been following and posting about this in our stories over the last week, but here’s everything in one place.
“The Short, Strange, Very Predictable Story of Caroline Calloway’s Snake Oil” - GUYS. Caroline Calloway is my favorite influencer-gone-bad. If y’all don’t have background on her— DEFINITELY read these two articles first:
“‘Toxic behavior’: Norah O’Donnell’s attitude under fire at ‘CBS Evening News’” - This anchorwoman is being compared to “The Devil Wears Prada,” never a good sign for that work environment.
“Meghan Markle’s Biggest Troll Is Her Half-Sister Samantha” - This woman is legitimately a trash goblin, and that makes me sad for Meghan.
“Weeping Russian influencer slammed for moaning about lost income from Instagram ban amid Ukraine bloodshed” - Yikes. No words. PS. here are some great ways to donate to Ukraine.
“Holiday swindler? Hello Darlings CEO disappears with millions paid for foreign trips”- I can’t help but wonder if with a name like Hello Darlings, this travel agency wasn’t just a blatantly planned scam off the bat. Unsurprisingly, the CEO seems to have vanished.
“Fresno lost $400,000 to a phishing scam in 2020 and never told the public“- Whoops, this makes me feel like maybe those IT phishing tests actually are pretty helpful.
“Fake heiress Anna Sorokin still in US amid deportation rumors”- *Anna voice* Fake news, not VIP treatment.
As y’all know, March is FULL of upcoming scam-inspired documentaries and series. Here’s a list of everything worth watching, with several having just premiered!
And as a bonus, below is this week’s SNL cold open where they spoofed influencer and Tik-Tok’ers helping teach folks about Russia invading Ukraine and what that means for the States. Also for background, if you missed it— check out AnnaLynne McCord’s bizarre AF video to Putin telling him “I’m so sorry I was not your mother.” She then defended her poem saying that she “easily have moved in the direction of becoming a dictator myself.”
Weekly Proof That Truth Will Always Be More Scandalous Than Fiction
“How an Obscure Finnish EDM Artist Hijacked Countless Spotify Playlists” - Remember how mad we all got when U2’s album was automatically downloaded to all our iPhones? It now pales in comparison to some poor woman having a horrible EDM track automatically added to the playlist for her mom’s funeral… woof.
