This week has me trying to figure out how to opt out of Meta’s sneaky AI model data training.

• “HGTV's Fixer to Fabulous star Dave Marrs is sued after unhappy customer found house they built for them was defected with nearly two dozen code violations”- Yikes, this is a new level of social media vs. reality.

• “'Bluey Day!' at Las Vegas restaurant descends into 'chaos,' leaves kids crying and parents furious”- These Fyre Fest-like events are getting out of control.

• “‘My chipotle yesterday was MASSIVE!!’: Chipotle customer warns of new ‘phone rule’ after manager rumor leaks”- If anyone does this, please report back.

• “How a Profane Joke on Twitter Spawned a Legal Army”- I bet this is a fun bunch of colleagues.

• “America’s premier pronatalists on having ‘tons of kids’ to save the world: ‘There are going to be countries of old people starving to death’”- Their kids being named Titan, Torsten, Industry, and Octavian— and the AR-15 mounted on a wall are only some of the bizarre things in this piece.

• “Chi-Chi’s margaritas sued for ‘pseudo cocktail’ that has no tequila but a strikingly similar label”- Malt liquor is always behind these sneaky “fake” beverages.

• “'It is time to break up Live Nation': DOJ sues Ticketmaster parent over alleged monopoly”- About time.

• “‘F— the LAPD’ shirt sells out after police org fails to get it taken down”- “LOL, no” is a great reply.

• “China’s online ‘Kim Kardashian’ banned for being too ostentatious”- I don’t believe in censorship but this isn’t the worst idea.

• “‘We’re Still Here’: How AMC Theatres Is Struggling With $4.5 Billion in Debt and Surviving Thanks to Taylor Swift, Viral Popcorn Buckets and More”- This entire article basically sums up how their “surviving” doesn’t seem like it’ll last long.

• “Boeing Starliner teams ‘evaluate a path forward’ for astronaut mission as NASA announces new target date”- Boeing shooting for the moon while all its core business falls apart. 🆒 🆒

• “Humane AI Pin is a disaster: Founders already want to sell the company”- Imagine having your product featured on a Youtube video titled “The Worst Product I've Ever Reviewed... For Now”

• “Techstars CEO Maëlle Gavet is out”- Strange that this announcement hit on TechStars’ applications deadline day.

• “Spotify is going to break every Car Thing gadget it ever sold”- Omg, I would be so furious.

• “California woman fined $88K after kids collect clams from Pismo Beach”- Unless there was a ton of signage everywhere, this is insane.

• Google’s AI disaster:

  • “Glue pizza and eat rocks: Google AI search errors go viral”

  • “Google scrambles to manually remove weird AI answers in search”

• Not scandalous but very interesting:

  • “For the first time in 28 years, Super Mario 64 has been beaten without using the A button – and it only took 86 hours”

  • “Portuguese Livestream Catches Ducks Reacting To Overhead Meteor”

  • “Italian teenager nicknamed ‘God’s influencer’ set to become Catholic Church’s first millennial saint”
