This week has me side-eyeing TikTok, Meta, the ADL, and a bunch of others:

• “When AI crosses the line: How an email impersonating Donald Trump caused a stir”- The founder’s apology was cringe, time to hire a publicist.

• “Drunk Lisbon Man Nearly Shoots Neighbor While Killing Squirrels: Police”- Hell yeah, Connecticut continues to remind people that our stuffy reputation isn’t exactly accurate.

• “Scammer posing as Brad Pitt gets woman to hand him $850K after he shares fake hospital photos”- …Not even good photos…

• “A Queens woman trusted a 'Star Sitter' on Rover. Then her dog went missing.”- Omg. Nightmare.

• “Rats addicted to seized drugs took over a Houston police department’s evidence room”- The article doesn’t disappoint.

• “Pepsi accused of illegal pricing deals with 'a large, big box retailer' in U.S. lawsuit”- I’m also putting my money on it being Walmart

• “The CEO of Crunch Fitness doesn’t think there’s such a thing as work-life balance: ‘That’s for somebody who’s not fully committed’”- Someone’s publicist is baffled about why he decided this was a good statement to make.

• “Homeowners Say Airbnb Guests Caused More Than $26,000 Worth of Damage After Allegedly Turning Their Home into a Meth Lab”- That sounds like a bad time!

• “RedNote may wall off “TikTok refugees” to prevent US influence on Chinese users”- Whoops, this has to be absolute chaos given the sign-up process.

• “F.T.C. Sues Largest U.S. Apartment Landlord Over Hidden Fees”- Hidden fees need to be made illegal across everything, everywhere.

• We love some super-niche scandal:

  • “Midwood-based furniture store 1StopBedrooms sued by AG James over alleged consumer fraud”

  • “Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission sued over open-meeting law, black bear quotas”

  • “Deere sued by FTC over farmers’ right to repair equipment”

• “Zuckerberg Announces Layoffs After Saying Coding Jobs Will Be Replaced by AI”- I’m so tired of the tech-startup-founder-to-super-villain pipeline.

• “Walgreens sued for allegedly dispensing illicit prescriptions”- Y’all literally have one job…

• Obviously, the new administration is already shady AF:

  • “Donald and Melania Trump launch a pair of meme coins ahead of inauguration, raising serious ethics concerns”

  • “Elon Musk’s DOGE sued minutes after Trump inauguration”
