Hi Wrecklings, what a week huh— wild that we still get internet while the clock’s been dialed back so many decades. Here’s a great page listing no-to-low cost ways to feel *slightly* less helpless in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned.
“Winklevoss Twins Take Shitty Band on the Road While Their Startup Flounders”- “They laid off 10 percent of their staff and then they went on tour with their rock band,” is a perfect reflection of why the world of tech startups will never cease to amaze (read: and often disappoint).
“‘Pandas Aren’t Real’ Conspiracy Theory Is Making The Internet Very Suspicious Of Bears”- As a subscriber to the Birds Aren’t Real movement, I’m happy to hop on this bandwagon as well!
“Gwyneth Paltrow is slammed as 'out of touch' and 'tone deaf' after launching WILDLY expensive jewelry collection - including a $2,000 ring and an $8,000 necklace - amid soaring living costs and surging inflation”- And she still remains mum on the overturning of Roe v. Wade so somehow manages to double-down on being completely insufferable.
“Airbnb Your Days Are Numbered”- I recently encountered a bizarre Airbnb experience that involved a rustic, repurposed sheep trailer on a farm. The spot was quaint but there was an unsupervised child that insisted on following me around the farm, incessantly asking questions and eating an obscene amount of bananas (6). He then threw two bananas at a horse who then ate them, peel and all? Still, my story pales in comparison to horror stories like this recent one.
“How ‘Disney Adults’ Became the Most Hated Group on the Internet”- This article is worth it even if just for the insane story about a bride opting to have Minnie and Mickey at her wedding in lieu of feeding anyone. While the linked Reddit post was deleted, below is a screenshot of it (thanks Betsy!).

“My lover and companion': Women Explain Why They Buy Male S** Dolls'“- This is somehow an equally heartwarming and strange piece. Warning: the photos are def NSFW— for those of you still working in an office, with proximity to colleagues.
“Giant 9,000-person cruise ship sent to scrap heap - before it's ever set sail”- This feels like the corporate equivalent of embarking on an overly-ambitious recipe or DIY project and then deciding to just scrap it. Idea: drag it up on land and turn it into the most insane college dorms or a themed hotel.
“These Twentysomethings Have Started Throwing Fake Weddings”- I’m not gonna lie, if a friend of mine threw a fake wedding, I’d probably be super into it. I also wonder if you tell a venue that you’re throwing a fake wedding if you avoid the wedding markup… just saying…
“Trump lunged at security detail, steering wheel to get to Capitol on Jan. 6, aide says”- Unsurprising, given the fact he’s committed to driving people crazy.
“That's rich! 'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli launches Substack newsletter where he slams billionaire Mark Cuban's online pharmacy for not being transparent in its pricing ... after he inflated the price of life-saving drug to $750 a pill from $13.50”- Didn’t take long for Martin Shkreli to make headlines with his stupid troll ways again. Also making headlines this week was his disgraced-journalist-turned-ex-girlfriend who won’t shut up about her terrible choices.
