Posh mole people, viral deepfakes & surprise cults👀🍿🧃
And NyQuil chicken wasn't a problem until the FDA made it one
Hi Wrecklings! I just finished watching The Real Bling Ring- Hollywood Heist documentary on Netflix, worth a watch but it seemed to have an oddly sympathetic lens on the thieves.
I also can’t stop thinking about this tweet calling out We Wore What for the most [I don’t even have the right word to describe] social media post ever.
There’s also a TON of scandal this week, so without further ado:
“See inside the luxury bunkers where the super-rich reportedly plan to save themselves from a future apocalypse”- This is THE MOST dystopian thing I’ve ever seen. But lmao, ok have fun living like (posh) mole people.
“Film Twitter Loves To Spread Fake News”- Oh, I heard they’re also working on a live-action remake of Ratatouille.
“Femdom Hypnotists are Getting Tired of the K1nk Shaming”- Huh, I realize that wasn’t the point of the article but dang, Etsy is edgier than I thought!
“Mormon Mommy Shunned For Being On OnlyFans Has Become An 'Online Mistress' & She's Making BANK!”- $45k a month, hell yeah girl.
“Wife Guy Ned Fulmer Ousted From 'Try Guys' After Cheating Allegations Broke the Internet”- Whyyyy are these men like thisssss. Also there’s a hint of another Buzzfeed scandal that hasn’t been broken yet and we’re 👀🍿🧃

“Three men charged with fraud in $100 million New Jersey deli scheme”- Here’s last year’s article about the deli which is also worth a read if only for the, “The pastrami must be amazing” quote from a BFD in the finance space.
Speaking of delis, just like how those super cute Yellow Delis are run by a cult, these innocuous-looking things might be fronts for surprise cults!
“How the QAnon Queen Funds Her Cult: ‘She’s Scamming People’”- On the subject of more obvious cults, remember how the “true queen of Canada” was telling people to stop paying their bills? Well, she’s still up to no good.
“A Depop Seller Offering $5 Absolution Online Created A Mess Of Catholic Discourse”- … what the what.
“Sarah Paulson to Play Cult Leader Gwen Shamblin in ‘The Way Down’ Scripted Adaptation at HBO Max”- YESSSS. This is going to be so unhinged.
Quick break to emphasize that someone just paid $65,000 for a plastic, model horse. Proceeds went to charity but that’s more than double what I paid for my car.
“Kia and Hyundai Are Being Sued Because Viral TikToks Showed How Easy It Is to Steal Their Cars”- You know your brand is going through a crisis when you’re having to work “with local police departments to distribute wheel locks to affected customers.”
“Don’t fall for this Keanu Reeves deepfake on TikTok like millions of others already have”- Not having paid attention to the username (tsk tsk, I know), I 1000% thought Keanu’s was embracing a fun, silly new image.
“Move Over, Red: Beige Flags Are the Newest Dating App Warning Signs.”- I CACKLED at the sub-header of this article. Hard agree. If your dating app says you “love to laugh”, I’m swiping left on you.
“Fortune Seller A TV Scam Review: Wanna Marchi, the OG Influencer From Hell”- Mix of “undisputed queen of teleshopping” and “elements like the intimidation of the mafia, the shady business partners, the appearance of mysterious Freemasons,” seems like it’s going to be an excellent watch!
“Crypto founder behind $60 billion collapse says he is not hiding after Interpol issues arrest notice”- This dude shouldn’t be allowed to ever push out a line of code publicly, ever again. Also, related… how do we think this tattoo has aged? This is btw, the arm of a very legit tech investor…
Tech companies are not having a good time:
“Twitch Had An Especially Wild Week”- Hope the publicists over there are paid well because they probably haven’t slept in a bit. Here’s more detail about how “Matt Gaetz Joined Twitch. It Did Not Go Well.”
“Amazon shrinks raises for workers after software glitch miscalculates bonuses”
“Tesla Morale Low As Workers Still Don't Have Desks, Face Increased Attendance Surveillance”
“Here’s what led KTLA to fire ex-anchor Mark Mester after a week of drama”- This reads like scenes out of Anchorman. Also hiring a plane to pull a message banner, that’s…a lot.
“The FDA's Warning About NyQuil Chicken Resulted In Around 7,000 Searches For It On TikTok”- So to recap, NyQuil chicken wasn’t actually a problem until the FDA issued the warning and it’s now… probably going to be…a problem.
“Eyes on the road! Engineers put a pair of googly eyes on a self-driving car to help pedestrians work out if they have been seen and whether it is safe to cross”- I LOVE this delightful idea. But I also can’t stop thinking about how awful it’ll be when one inevitably malfunctions and the car is looking right at someone before they run them over and that will be even worse because in their final moments they’ll feel like a character from Thomas The Tank Engine has a very personal vendetta against them. So, uh yeah.
