This week has me cackling over Ohio State University’s commencement speaker getting booed for pitching Bitcoin in his speech— that he wrote while on ayahuasca.
“‘Fyre Festival of books’ conference descends into chaos, leaves multiple bibliophiles injured: ‘It was total BS’”- Ah yes, blame it on the “bumpy bumps.”
“Theranos fraudster Elizabeth Holmes has prison sentence reduced again”- Very unsurprising.
“TikTok’s Raw Milk Influencers Are Going to Give Us All Bird Flu”- Love that author John Green is trying to warn everyone.
“A YouTuber let the Cybertruck close on his finger to test the new sensor update. It didn't go well.”- Nothing relating to the Cybertruck seems to be going well.
“Panera says it's phasing out its controversial Charged Lemonade nationwide”- Oh nooooooooo. I love mixing a tiny, tiny bit of this with soda water.
“Inside the ‘Screaming Match’ That Ended GMA Weatherman Rob Marciano’s Career”- He went from co-anchoring Entertainment Tonight to being a weatherman?
“Rue21, a mall staple, files for bankruptcy and will close all of its stores”- Express and now this? My college-self is sad.
“Judge Dismisses Tiger King’s Copyright Lawsuit Against Musician”- I also googled it for those of you also curious, Joe Exotic is apparently in prison until 2035.
“Inside the ‘cold war’ at Techstars as CEO Maëlle Gavet hires, fires, fights to force change”- WOOF. This is so messy. The TikToks do not make TechStars look good here.
“Workers say Meow Wolf layoffs betray values, allege corporate disarray”-Noo, that’s so disappointing.
“Apple confirms bug that is keeping some iPhone alarms from sounding”- As an anxious person that already stresses about my alarms going off…Worst. Nightmare.
“French bakers make world's longest baguette, beating Italy”- Not scandalous, but seriously delicious.
“Florida bans lab-grown meat, adding to similar efforts in three other states”- I bet Big Meat/Cow is behind this.
Met Gala-related nonsense:
“Meet the man who accidentally started an assassin hiring website”- This is an old article I stumbled upon but DANG, what an interesting read.
“Helldivers 2 Delisted For Over 100 Countries on Steam”- Steam is winning some serious customer service points for issuing refunds.
“Titan submersible likely imploded due to shape, carbon fiber: Scientists”- The thing was controlled by a game controller, people are still studying where it specifically failed?
🔏“Pokémon Go Players Invent Fake Beaches on Real Maps to Catch Rare Wigletts”- The dedication is admirable.
