“The Great G-Wagen Sell-Off”- This is a (possible) effect of the crypto crash I didn’t see coming. It’s also a good time to snipe a McLaren.
On the subject of sad crypto folks, the article is behind a paywall but this tweet sums up how Miami nightclubs are hurting too:
“Mercedes-Benz to introduce acceleration subscription fee”- First BMW with the heated seat subscription and now this? Dystopian.
“A leaked Amazon memo may help explain why the tech giant is pushing out so many recruiters”- As someone who definitely presents better in-person vs. on a resume, I don’t love this direction.
“Bankman-Fried Apologizes to FTX Employees, Details Amount of Leverage in Internal Letter”- This “apology” is akin to an arsonist apologizing for freezing up after the building was already engulfed in flames.
“Antrim man among 8 jailed over ‘bloodbath’ wedding brawl that caused €20k damage”- I’ll never complain again about family drama.
“Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker getting tax break in 2022 on Texas home intended for primary residence”- I am genuinely confused about why this discovery isn’t causing total chaos in Georgia (or anywhere, for that matter). This seems… like a huge problem?
“Why the worst recipes imaginable are blowing up on TikTok”- Another weird and great piece by Jessica— and I’m thankful for now knowing the term “rage-bait” exists.
“Parisian Gallery’s Owners Sentenced to Jail After Stolen Picasso Scandal”- Chapter closed on this art heist. Also a reminder that Picasso died in 1973, which still blows my mind for some reason.
“Faking the Funk: How Bootsy Collins Impostors Pulled Off the Ultimate Music Biz Scam”- This is a fascinating read about rock ‘n roll grifts.
“Developer who bilked condo buyers in Coachella resort scam gets 20 years in prison”- If you want more background on this insane story, Scamfluencers has an *incredible* episode about this woman.
“Macy’s ‘tragic’ Metaverse Thanksgiving Day Parade left me worried for the future – 2023 balloon contest couldn’t save it”- Oof. Can’t anticipate they’ll host that again next year.
“United Furniture Industries Fired Thousands via Text, Email as They Slept”- It’s infuriating how poorly and heartlessly companies approach layoffs.
“People Are Calling An Influencer Out For An "Out Of Touch" TikTok Where She Said She Was Going To A Luxury Hotel Because Her Hot Water Stopped Working”- She couldn’t have been surprised about the chilly reception to her video 🥁💥
“Aussie TikTok star confronts fans at the World Cup and accuses them of being 'fake' - as speculation grows Qatar paid people to be there”- Well, regardless if they’re being paid or not— they’ll certainly be sober.
“Woman sues Kraft Heinz for $5million claiming the $10.99 Velveeta Shells & Cheese cups take longer to prepare than the 3 ½ minutes it says on the label”- This woman gets an A for effort in chasing a payout but also wtf.
“Russo Brothers to Helm FTX Crypto Scandal Limited Series For Prime Video”- We called it last week, definitely didn’t think it’d be in the works so quickly!
“A Las Vegas women’s college basketball tournament provided a court, and almost nothing else”- Imagine expecting the first and getting the second 💀:
